Where to Apply

Here’s an exhaustive list of the BEST places to apply for an auto loan with bad credit.

Updated December 24th, 2012.

Some of the sub-prime auto finance resources listed on this page will be easier to get approved with than others and you can apply with as many or as few as you wish, if you’re interested in comparing offers, rates and so forth. Obviously, that choice is up to you.

Let’s take a look at available options…

Your local bank. Have you tried that yet? If you have a checking account with a local bank that is in good standing, they may or may not be able to provide a loan for you. One stickler about using a local bank is that they will generally require a sizable down payment for sub prime borrowers. That’s OK though, if you have the money available. Using a local bank will enable you to buy a car from a private seller, and thus save sales tax on the purchase.

Your local credit union. It’s surprising, but credit unions can provide lower interest rates for bad credit auto loans than any other source. You do have to be a member though. If you have that resource available, go for it!

If you’ve ruled out the above…

Online sub-prime auto loan and lender networks. There are thousands of websites online promoting bad credit auto financing. Are they all legitimate? Heck no. But, there are some that are and I’ll give you a list of the best ones to use, based on their track records, industry reputation, etc.

Here is the Absolute Best…

They say that the best are saved for last. That’s not the case here because I don’t want to waste your time. If you’re serious about getting approved for a bad credit car loan, I’m going to send you to the absolute best place to apply on planet earth. Literally. No hype, no gimmicks, no scams and no bloated claims, they are the #1 bad credit car loan service in the United States and Canada and in my opinion, you would be crazy not to give them a chance to help you get approved for a good car loan.

Over One Billion Dollars so far…

Special finance programs for people buying a car with bad credit that they have developed, literally have approved over ONE BILLION dollars in bad credit auto loan applications – they process over $4,500,000 dollars in bad credit car loan applications every month.

They’ll work with you if you have had a bankruptcy, repossession, foreclosure, credit card charge-offs, negative trade equity and the list goes on and on. They provide services in all 50 states plus Canada, have a full time staff of REAL PEOPLE that are working around the clock handling applications – as I said – they are the most reputable and trusted source that I could send you to.

Before I send you over, let me tell you what you’re going to need to get things going your way.

You’ll need…

  • At least $1,500 monthly income (before taxes) if your credit score is below 625.
  • Bankruptcies (Chapter 7 or 13) must be discharged. That means that your meeting of creditors must be completed and you’ve said asta la vista to the bankruptcy court.
  • Repossession must have been either over 12 months old or included in a recent bankruptcy.
  • You need to be a legal resident (that’s a no brainer) of the USA or Canada and over 18.

So without further adieu, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the best in the business…

Need I say more?

If you’re still not satisfied or just want to play the field a bit, here’s a list of competing services…

Web2Carz comes in a close second and helps a lot of people with buying a car with bad credit, also. They have an extensive nationwide network of auto loan and dealer companies that can help you. If you have any questions while filling out the application, they have telephone support on their site.

Web2Carz minimum requirements:

  • Must make $1800 per month
  • All bankruptcies discharged
  • Repossession OK if included in a bankruptcy
  • No multiple repossessions
  • Must be 18 or over to apply
  • Available for U.S. applicants only
  • 99% of applicants approved

AutoLoanSolutions functions in much the same way as the company above, but is not as well known. They’re a good service, but I don’t have much knowledge other than I’ve heard of people having used them with decent results.

AnyCreditAuto has a cheesy looking site. OK, I said it, but – they do have a BIG network of auto loan lenders/dealers and can do things to get people financed that are a bit surprising for a site with their “look”. They specialize in helping people find low interest rate loans with bad credit.

AnyCreditAuto minimum requirements:

  • Monthly income of $1100 or more
  • All bankruptcies discharged
  • Repossession OK if included in bankruptcy
  • No multiple repossessions
  • Must be 18 or over to apply
  • Available for U.S. residents only

MyCreditTree is a little less known but has been steady at the finance wheel for years. The best part about these guys is that you know if they have an available lender for your area, before you complete the application. Just enter your zip code, monthly income amount (which qualifies you for your car payment) and wa-la… you’re on your way.

MyCreditTree minimum requirements:

  • Monthly income of $2200.00 or more
  • No bankruptcy
  • No repossessions
  • Must be 18 or over to apply
  • Available for U.S. applicants only

DriveTime is the ONLY buy here, pay here car dealer franchise that I would recommend. However, you have to live in an area that they cover. Those areas are listed below.

DriveTime minimum requirements:

  • Low income requirement of $800.00 or more monthly
  • Repossession OK
  • Bankruptcy OK
  • 18 and over to apply
  • Only available in certain areas listed below

Here is a list of DriveTime locations:

  • Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Austin, Texas
  • Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Greensboro, North Carolina
  • Jacksonville, Florida
  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Los Angeles, California
  • Nashville, Tennessee
  • Norfolk, Virginia
  • Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Richmond, Virginia
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • Tampa, Florida
  • Temple, Texas
  • Tucson, Arizona

Tips to remember when filling out your application

  • Always use your complete physical street address
  • Don’t omit any fields – fill in everything the best that you can
  • Use your exact income amount – don’t estimate
  • Use your exact length of employment
  • Be truthful when answering all questions

Each service is different, but you can expect to get an approval answer from each of them in a matter of a few minutes to a few hours. Thousands upon thousands of people that have bad credit get approved through these sub-prime services every day, so you can be confident that you’re making a positive step in the right direction.

Remember… don’t take the first offer that you’re given… it’s always a great idea to compare car loan offers and make your decision based on interest rates, required down payments (no money down is available through some sources) and other factors. Be smart about it and don’t let your emotions get the best of you!

I’ll add more resources/services as they are available.

THANK YOU for being here!

P.S.

Here’s the Fine Print…

You may or may not be aware that any website that speaks of any financial matter, whether it be personal finance or anything related, must disclose that they are not a legal financial advisor. So in keeping with the law, I must make it clear that I am not, and this website is not a source of legal financial advice. Although I’ve personally been involved with sub prime auto loans, lenders and related industries since the age of 20, I make no claim that I am a “financial guru”. Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m just a regular guy that just happens to know a lot about selling and financing cars for people with bad credit, and likes to build websites.

Some of the companies that I freely choose to list based on their credentials do buy me a cup of coffee if they approve an application. So everyone wins… you get a car loan, and I get a Grande at Starbucks:) I would like to say however, that the order of recommended companies is not based on their level of compensation, far from it.

Thank you so much for visiting BadCreditAutomotive.com!
